The Aztec Gateway

Dreamscape III

I was walking there with him
When the light suddenly changed
All the sky grew darkened
That deep blue of twilight
Dark, yet intense the same.
All the people stood there
Waiting at the crest of the hill
They were watching the moon
As it covered the sun
Both celestial bodies hanging
On the horizon like huge spheres
I could almost touch them
And up above them, a star
Shimmering white light
In that glowing twilight haze.
I fell to my knees
Like some primitive being
Feeling reverence for some
Unknown, mysterious thing.
I sat there kissing the earth
And uttering prayers to Him
As I watched the night cover the sun
And was overcome with His beauty.
I knelt with these aged ones
I did not know them, yet they saw
They knew we witnessed a holy thing
While all the others stood there pointing
Talking about planetary alignments
And other scientific things
That seemed dead to my ears.
Maybe I am a primitive being
But in this moment, I don’t care
I would rather feel this reverence
Than posses all the science in the world.
But then, it came to an end
And trembling, I arose
I turned to look for him
But I could not find him there
Unmoved, he had left me alone.
