Here it is, finally: my "guide" to getting started with modern Aztec worship from a reconstructionist perspective. I will probably add more to it over time, but I'll be starting with some basic information. After recieving an average of one email per week asking me a "how to" question, and attempting to maintain a semi-regular communication with these people (which has become, unfortunately, extremely difficult), it has become clear to me that some people somewhere actually want advice on how to go about reconstructing the Aztec religion, practicing Aztec rituals, and worshipping the gods. Because of that, I have decided to put together some instructional information on modern Aztec religious practice. In the next pages, I will be assuming the following:

You have familiarized yourself with Aztec culture. You possess at least a basic knowledge of the major deities in the Aztec pantheon. You are at least somewhat familiar with the major myths. You know what "reconstructionism" means and understand that this is the particular approach I am using here.

Also, before we begin, a few disclaimers:

1. I do not claim to be, nor do I want to be, seen as some kind of Aztec guru who has the answers to everything. I don't have any kind of authority, only my experiences and my research. I'm not claiming this is The One True Way to do Aztec reconstructionism, or that what is contained herein is flawless, should be taken as gospel or unchangable. See this as being a collection of information, ideas and suggestions for things you can do rather than me trying to be the Mexica Master.

2. I am not responsible for anything that anyone chooses to do with this information. So, if you decide to sacrifice your neighbor, slit your wrists as autosacrifice, or anything else stupid like that, it's on you for being stupid.

3. More of a threat than a disclaimer, do NOT republish this without my permission, on the internet or in print. You can link to any page on my site and so on, but don't try to pass it off as your own. I put this threat here because the last thing I want to see or contribute to is some watered-down book purporting to be about "Aztec Paganism" or something like that. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, and I don't mean to suggest that what I write here is good enough for anyone to want to steal it, but hey, if they can get away with basing The Complete Idiots Guide to Voodoo almost entirely off of this website and not even giving the proper credit, who knows. Still thinking about writing that Lewellyn book? I'll let you know right now that all materials on my website have legally been copyrighted, so think twice before not giving credit where credit is due.
